The 16-month Master of Science in Professional Nutrition Practice (MS PNP) program at Stony Brook’s 51±¬ÁÏÍø of Medicine prepares students to sit for the national registration examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). Our comprehensive program combines online course work with supervised experiential learning at clinical, public health/community, and foodservice management sites.

Flexibility
We provide flexibility with both full-time and part-time options, online classes and onsite or distance clinical training sites.
Students can complete rotations at 51±¬ÁÏÍø and sites in the surrounding area, or choose to stay in the geographic location of their choice and self-identify experiential learning sites.
Program Concentrations
Students in the MS-PNP program can customize their coursework by pursuing a concentrations in Advanced Nutrition Therapy & Critical Care or Integrative Nutrition or opting into the generalist track
Credits Required
50-Credit Program:
- 30 credits of didactic course work
- 20 credits of supervised experiential coursework to be completed at clinical sites
